The National Cattlemen's Beef Association wrote that "weakening federal meat inspection & food safety standards isn't the answer" and called it a "short-term political fix." Sen. Tim Sheehy said he had advised against the imports for a year because they would "further harm" ranchers, "most of whom are MAGA Republicans." Sen. John Barrasso wrote that Americans want U.S. beef on the table, "not foreign imports." The pause lasts 90 days and "encourages" a 25 percent discount. The herd is at a 75-year low. The inspector is the apology tour. "PROCESS THEIR OWN FOOD" is the meme. The packers are still the packers. A talk-radio host is not a food-safety statute. You can quote a Truth Social post. You can yell at a meat case. None of that moves a town hall. They hold yours. Pick a party, walk your town, fight, take it back.
